About Us

Northgate Needlecraft has been established since 1989 and is Norfolk's specialist needlework shop located in Northgate Street in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.

We specialise in hard-to-find needlework supplies and the more unusual accessories and gifts for the needleworker.

Our latest fabrics in store are Weeks Dye Works woolfelt and over-dyed linens (30, 35 and 40 count and Gingham). We have ZWEIGART and PERMIN LINENS (28, 32 and 36 count) and overdyed linens from WICHELT ( 28, 32, 36 count) and R & R REPRODUCTIONS (30 and 35 count). Plain and overdyed evenweaves from WICHELT (28 and 32 count) with wonderful names like 'Pink Dahlia', 'Queen Anne's Lace', 'Dried Thyme' and 'Chai Tea'. Graziano linen from Italy comes in Riviera Tattersall (3.25" squares) and Riviera Gingham (5" squares). The range of aidas include 8, 11, 14, 16 and 18 counts in naturals, colours and over-dyed.

We have Weaver's Cloth for Punchneedle and a range of canvas in various counts and colours.

The threads in store are Weeks Dye Works, The Gentle Art Sampler Threads, the Caron Collection, Rajmahal, Crescent Colors, The Thread Gatherer, Threadworx (previously Needle Necessities), DMC, Anchor and Madeira. Yli silk threads and ribbons (2, 4, 7 and 13mm).

We have CHARLAND'S range of Charts and Sterling Silver charms and those from THE SWEETHEART TREE. Treasures, beads and buttons from MILL HILL.

Papers of Pins, Thread Keeps and handmade counting pins from IN THE COMPANY OF FRIENDS make unusual and welcome gifts for any stitcher as do the counting pins from JUST NAN. Just Nan's chart packs are available along with those from THE DRAWN THREAD, VICTORIA SAMPLER, INDIGO ROSE and EMIE BISHOP'S Cross and Patch for those stitchers who want something different or want to try their hand at Hardanger.

Those wishing to do long-stitch, latch-hooking and large cross stitch on canvas are also catered for.

We hold classes fortnightly that are for all ages and abilities. Our current class is a Christmas Pendaloque (pear-shape hanging ornament) decorated with gold thread and beads. Past classes have been silk ribbon embroidery, hardanger and counted thread samplers. 

Our classes for the new year include embroidering a lady painted on a silk background panel. Hardanger and stumpwork classes will also be running.
